What you will do

• Develop and prototype AI algorithms for healthcare applications using foundation models and self-supervised learning.
• Optimize model training pipelines for accuracy, scalability, and rapid experimentation.
• Apply software engineering best practices including test-driven development and rigorous validation.
• Evaluate generative AI models and collaborate with teams training models at scale.
• Benchmark state-of-the-art techniques and document technical progress.

Requirements

• Must be based in New Zealand
• Extensive experience in an ML engineering or applied research role.
• Strong proficiency in Python and deep learning frameworks like PyTorch.
• Hands-on experience building foundation models and self-supervised learning methods.
• Honours degree or higher in Computer Science or equivalent quantitative background.
• Experience evaluating generative AI models and working with large-scale training.

Nice to have

• Experience with healthcare data and product development.
• Background in distributed training, AWS cloud development, computer vision, or NLP.
• PhD in Machine Learning or equivalent research experience.
• Publications or open-source contributions in foundation models or generative AI.
