Mission Payload Engineer (Commercial)

Salary: $100,000–$135,000 per year plus company equity

What you will do

• Manage payload integration across proposals, spacecraft design, development, integration, testing, launch, and on-orbit commissioning.
• Act as the primary technical interface with commercial customers and partners, leading technical discussions and design reviews.
• Define, maintain, and negotiate payload interface control documentation covering mechanical, electrical, software, power, and mission interfaces.
• Create and execute payload interface verification and validation plans, including testing strategies and final sell-off activities.
• Coordinate integration with vehicle engineering, avionics, software, propulsion, thermal, and AI&T teams.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline.
• At least 2 years of experience in aerospace or space systems involving spacecraft, launch vehicles, airborne systems, or payloads.
• At least 2 years of technical project management and/or systems engineering experience.
• Hands-on experience developing, integrating, and testing launch vehicles, spacecraft, or other aerospace systems.
• Strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, software, and power interfaces for satellite payloads.
• Must be a U.S. person under ITAR or otherwise eligible for a federally issued export-control license.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree in an engineering discipline.
• Direct experience working with commercial customers.
• Five or more years of aerospace or space-industry experience.
• Spacecraft integration and test experience, including environmental testing, verification, and troubleshooting.
• Experience delivering results across multiple parallel priorities and collaborating in high-performing teams.
