Senior Mission Payload Engineer (Commercial, Aerospace)

Salary: $135,000–$175,000 per year plus equity

What you will do

• Manage payload integration across proposals, spacecraft design and development, integration, testing, launch, and on-orbit commissioning.
• Act as the primary technical interface for commercial customers and payload partners.
• Define, maintain, and negotiate mechanical, electrical, software, power, data, and mission interfaces.
• Create and execute payload interface verification and validation plans, including final technical sell-off.
• Coordinate integration activities with vehicle engineering, avionics, software, propulsion, thermal, and AI&T teams.
• Represent hirify.global in customer engagements, design reviews, and verification milestones.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline.
• 4+ years of experience in aerospace or space, working with spacecraft, launch vehicles, airborne systems, or payloads.
• 2+ years of technical project management and/or systems engineering experience.
• Hands-on experience developing, integrating, and testing launch vehicles, spacecraft, or other aerospace systems.
• Strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, software, and power interfaces for satellite payloads.
• Must be a U.S. person under ITAR or otherwise eligible for a federally issued export control license.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree in an engineering discipline.
• Direct experience working with commercial customers.
• 8+ years of aerospace or space industry experience.
• Hands-on spacecraft integration and test experience, including environmental testing, verification, and troubleshooting.
• Experience delivering results across multiple parallel priorities and collaborating in high-performing teams.
