TL;DR
Algorithm Engineer (AI) (Semiconductor Inspection): Developing and deploying image processing, signal processing, and AI algorithms for wafer inspection, defect detection, classification, and metrology with an accent on computer vision, machine learning, and high-performance implementation. Focus on modeling, optimization, production validation, troubleshooting complex issues in semiconductor fabs, and supporting customer deployments including TSMC.
Location: Hsinchu, Taiwan; onsite support in semiconductor manufacturing fabs, including TSMC, may be required

What you will do
- Design, develop, and optimize algorithms for semiconductor inspection and metrology systems.
- Build models, simulations, proofs of concept, software implementations, and production-ready algorithm solutions.
- Characterize and validate performance, document results, and support product releases.
- Collaborate with software, systems, applications, product engineering, and hardware teams to prototype and deploy new capabilities.
- Investigate algorithm, system, and production issues in customer manufacturing environments and provide onsite support when required.
- Analyze large-scale production data to improve robustness, productivity, and defect detection performance.
Requirements
- Doctorate with 0 years of related experience, or a master's degree with 3 years of related experience, or a bachelor's degree with 5 years of related experience.
- Experience in image processing, image segmentation, texture analysis, feature extraction, statistical data analysis, signal processing, pattern recognition, machine learning, deep learning, computer vision, or AI-based inspection systems.
- Programming experience with C/C++ and MATLAB and/or Python.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Willingness to work directly with customers and support engineering activities in semiconductor manufacturing fabs.
Nice to have
- CPU optimization using SIMD, SSE, or AVX.
- GPU programming with CUDA.
- High-performance computing and algorithm acceleration experience.
