Compensation: Competitive local market rates (e.g., £76,000–£97,000 in the UK, with equivalent 75th percentile packages in other operating countries).

What you will do

• Own the full product lifecycle of software integrations for hirify.global hardware within Home Assistant and ESPHome.
• Develop and maintain Python proxy libraries and integration components that translate hardware protocols into user-friendly entities.
• Collaborate with hardware and embedded Linux teams to align software capabilities with physical device features.
• Contribute to Home Assistant core and related Open Home projects to support new platform functionality.
• Maintain high code quality through rigorous testing, documentation, and code reviews.
• Resolve complex protocol edge cases, compatibility issues, and regression bugs.

Requirements

• Strong Python development experience, including async/await, testing frameworks, and scalable architecture.
• Meaningful experience contributing to large open-source projects, including public pull requests and asynchronous collaboration.
• Experience building integrations, APIs, or software for connected devices and hardware protocols.
• Ability to navigate large, complex codebases and troubleshoot distributed systems.
• Must be based in one of the specified European countries to facilitate employment via Remote.
• Strong written communication skills for an async-first, distributed environment.

Nice to have

• Previous contributions to Home Assistant, ESPHome, or Open Home Foundation projects.
• Experience with Raspberry Pi or embedded Linux ecosystems.
• Background in smart home or IoT product development.
