Staff Software Engineer (Rust): Building and optimizing high-performance infrastructure for the Anywhere Cloud platform with an accent on Kubernetes-native service development, security-critical systems, and low-latency data path management. Focus on designing robust Rust services, implementing authentication protocols, and ensuring system reliability under heavy load.
Location: Must be based in Budapest, Hungary (Hybrid role)

What you will do
- Design and build high-performance Rust-based infrastructure services including proxies, credential brokers, and log collectors.
- Implement and verify security-critical authentication protocols and access control enforcement.
- Define system architecture, module boundaries, and memory management strategies for performance-sensitive components.
- Build distributed telemetry and observability systems to monitor service health and performance.
- Provide technical guidance and perform design reviews for cross-functional teams on systems-level challenges.
- Drive technical direction by evaluating build-vs-buy decisions and establishing rigorous testing strategies.
Requirements
- 8+ years of professional software engineering experience with at least 3 years in performance or security-critical systems.
- Production experience with Rust, including async Rust, tokio, and the hyper ecosystem.
- Strong understanding of networking (TCP/HTTP), concurrency, and memory management.
- Experience deploying and operating services on Kubernetes.
- Proven ability to implement advanced testing strategies such as property-based or fuzz testing.
- Not eligible for immigration support or relocation.
Nice to have
- Experience with S3-compatible storage protocols or request signing (SigV4).
- Background in building observability pipelines using OpenTelemetry or gRPC.
- Prior work on reverse proxies, load balancers, or service meshes.
- Experience with performance profiling, benchmarking, and P99 latency optimization.
- Familiarity with building Kubernetes operators or controllers.
