Software Engineer (Healthtech)

Location: Tokyo, Japan (Onsite). Must be willing to travel to hospital partner premises for server operations.

A healthtech company specializing in oncology data to improve cancer care globally, serving as an independent affiliate of the Roche Group.

What you will do

• Design and deploy robust software to securely access and transform raw patient data into high-quality data products.
• Develop and maintain web applications and automated data processing pipelines with high reliability and observability.
• Collaborate with oncologists, clinicians, and product leaders to solve complex business, security, and data privacy challenges.
• Implement software engineering rigor, including comprehensive unit testing and data quality assurance.
• Perform server operations directly at hospital partner premises.

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience in software development with C#, Java, or Python.
• 3+ years of experience with web technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) and backend frameworks (ASP.NET Core or Spring MVC).
• Experience with relational databases such as PostgreSQL and MySQL.
• At least 1 year of experience in Linux system administration and Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
• Business-level proficiency in both Japanese and English for discussions with partners and vendors.

Nice to have

• Experience developing or operating EHR (Electronic Health Record) or department systems.
• Experience managing server hardware and network devices.
• Development experience using AWS.
