What you will do

• Design, develop, and support a highly scalable and reliable distributed cloud control plane system.
• Implement a new service architecture required to enable the next generation of the Snowflake Data Cloud.
• Analyze and resolve complex performance and scalability bottlenecks within the system.
• Own end-to-end project delivery, including design, implementation, rigorous testing, and production rollout.
• Ensure operational readiness to meet customer commitments for durability, availability, and performance.
• Mentor junior engineers and develop tools for better system observability and insights.

Requirements

• 6+ years of industry experience working on commercial software.
• Strong fluency in Java and a deep understanding of CS fundamentals (data structures, algorithms).
• Solid foundation in distributed systems concepts such as consistency, scaling, and failure recovery.
• Experience with AI agents, reviewing AI-generated code, and deploying to production at a fast pace.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
• Must be based in or eligible to work in Menlo Park, CA, USA

Nice to have

• Experience with SQL or other database control plane technologies.
• Experience deploying and managing distributed key-value stores like FoundationDB across multiple clouds.
