Commissions Accountant (Finance)

Location: Preferred in Salt Lake City, Utah, but open to remote candidates within the US

What you will do

• Perform commission accounting functions, including preparation of journal entries and account reconciliations.
• Manage the month-end close process to ensure commission expenses are recorded accurately and on time.
• Calculate, capitalize, and amortize commission costs in accordance with ASC 340-40.
• Process and reconcile commission clawbacks and true-ups, adjusting capitalized balances as needed.
• Collaborate with Payroll, FP&A, Sales Operations, and Revenue Operations to ensure accurate reporting.
• Identify and support automation initiatives to streamline commission accounting processes.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (Accounting preferred).
• Familiarity with ASC 340-40 and accounting for sales commissions.
• Strong proficiency in Excel.
• Excellent organizational abilities and attention to detail.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.

Nice to have

• CPA eligibility.
• Experience with NetSuite, Salesforce, or commission tools like CaptivateIQ or Xactly.
