TL;DR
Director, Engineering IT Operations (Semiconductor): Overseeing critical infrastructure platforms for chip development with an accent on high-performance compute, EDA tool environments, and enterprise storage. Focus on leading global teams, driving operational excellence in 24x7 environments, and scaling infrastructure to support complex semiconductor engineering workflows.
Location: Must be based in or able to work from Edinburgh, Scotland (Hybrid)
A leader in low-power, high-precision mixed-signal processing components for audio and voice applications.
What you will do
- Define and lead infrastructure strategy for global semiconductor design and engineering operations.
- Ensure high availability, performance, and security of chip development platforms.
- Lead and scale teams responsible for Linux infrastructure, compute farms, storage, and automation.
- Drive operational excellence, including incident response, disaster recovery, and change management.
- Partner with silicon engineering, CAD/EDA, and executive leadership to align infrastructure with business goals.
- Advance automation, self-service capabilities, and platform reliability to improve engineering productivity.
Requirements
- Must be based in or able to work from Edinburgh, Scotland.
- Extensive experience leading infrastructure or platform engineering teams in large-scale environments.
- Deep expertise in Linux infrastructure, HPC, and enterprise storage management.
- Strong understanding of semiconductor engineering workflows, EDA tools, and tapeout-critical infrastructure.
- Proven ability to manage 24x7 production operations and large-scale distributed compute environments.
- Experience supporting 1,000+ engineers and complex global engineering environments.
Nice to have
- Experience with Kubernetes and advanced CI/CD for hardware development flows.
- Deep knowledge of Perforce administration at enterprise scale.
- Familiarity with AI tooling strategy and direction.
