Senior Game Engine Programmer (C++) (Game Development/BRUTAL): Expanding a proprietary game development framework by building developer-friendly C++ plugins, in-house libraries, and tools with an accent on graphics pipelines, networking, and low-level performance. Focus on designing custom interfaces, extending engine functionality, and solving scale and performance challenges for open-world, simulation-based, and systems-driven games.
Location: On-site in Auckland, New Zealand
Salary: NZ$100,000–NZ$150,000 per year

is an independently run PC video game studio developing games with its proprietary BRUTAL framework, alongside existing Unity and Unreal projects.
What you will do
- Expand the BRUTAL game development framework and its engine libraries.
- Create developer-friendly interfaces for custom C++ plugins and in-house libraries.
- Build plugins that extend existing tools and maximize their functionality.
- Collaborate with game designers, game programmers, and technical engineers to improve development workflows.
- Contribute to graphics, networking, data architecture, and other engine systems focused on scale and performance.
- Manage workload and working hours in consultation with the wider team, and provide feedback to improve the BRUTAL tools.
Requirements
- At least 6 years of experience in the game development industry.
- Strong C++ skills and familiarity with C#.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- A tertiary qualification in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a similar field, or equivalent industry experience.
- Ability to work on-site at the Auckland studio.
Nice to have
- Experience with graphics APIs, especially Vulkan.
- Experience with CMake or other programming languages.
- A portfolio of published game projects or game engines.
