Associate Director DMPK (Biotech)

TL;DR

Associate Director DMPK (Biotech): Leading the establishment of Drug Metabolism and Pharmacokinetics capabilities in the UK to accelerate the development of small molecule and ASO therapeutics with an accent on ADME/PKPD strategy and cross-functional project leadership. Focus on driving candidate nomination, managing CRO relationships, and integrating advanced modelling and simulation tools into the drug discovery pipeline.

Location: Must be based in or able to work from the Babraham Research Campus, South Cambridge, UK (Hybrid role).

What you will do

• Develop and refine the UK Discovery ADME and PKPD strategy.
• Design and interpret nonclinical ADME studies to guide molecule design and optimization.
• Collaborate with chemistry and biology teams to mitigate development risks and build confidence in therapeutic exposure.
• Apply modelling and simulation (ADMET, QSAR, PK, PBPK) to deliver human PK and dose projections.
• Provide strategic leadership within Discovery project teams to guide candidate selection.
• Manage relationships with external CROs to ensure high-quality data delivery.

Requirements

• PhD in Pharmacokinetics, Pharmacology, Biochemistry, or related field.
• Minimum of 8 years of DMPK experience in the biotech/pharmaceutical industry.
• Proven record of contributing to successful clinical development candidate nominations.
• Extensive experience in designing and interpreting nonclinical ADME, safety, and DDI studies.
• Strong expertise in human PK and dose prediction.
• Must be able to work on-site at the Babraham Research Campus, South Cambridge.

Nice to have

• Experience with antisense oligonucleotide (ASO) therapeutics and CNS-targeting compounds.
• Hands-on experience with PK/PKPD/PBPK modelling software (e.g., Phoenix WinNonlin, Simcyp, GastroPlus).
