Sound Engineering Specialist (AI Trainer)

Location: Canada; remote

Salary: $8–$65 per hour, with the final rate based on experience, expertise, and geographic location.

hirify.global is running a freelance AI training project focused on improving language models for audio engineering and production use cases.

What you will do

• Challenge advanced language models with complex audio system design and troubleshooting scenarios.
• Evaluate model responses on live sound reinforcement, microphone technique, signal flow, acoustics, mixing consoles, audio interfaces, and system calibration.
• Test topics including gain staging, PA tuning, time alignment, routing, patching, impedance matching, analog-to-digital conversion, and broadcast audio standards.
• Validate engineering accuracy and identify gaps in signal-chain reasoning.
• Document model failure modes and recommend improvements to prompts and evaluation methods.

Requirements

• Expertise in sound engineering, particularly live sound reinforcement, microphone technique, signal flow, acoustics, and audio system calibration.
• Hands-on experience with live sound rigs, studio installations, broadcast setups, or touring productions.
• A bachelor’s or master’s degree in Sound Engineering, Acoustical Engineering, Electrical Engineering with an audio specialization, or a related field is ideal.
• Clear, structured communication and the ability to explain signal paths precisely.
• Familiarity with professional audio tools and mixing consoles is beneficial.

Nice to have

• Experience with Dante Controller, Smaart, or QLab.
• Experience with Yamaha, Avid, or Allen & Heath mixing consoles.
