Salary: $149,600 – $202,400 CAD

What you will do

• Optimize, maintain, and evolve MySQL and PostgreSQL infrastructure to support high-performance applications.
• Investigate and resolve complex database performance issues and query bottlenecks.
• Collaborate with product development teams to define roadmaps and satisfy application requirements.
• Implement automation and processes to enhance the reliability and scalability of data stores.
• Guide development teams on database optimization best practices and provide observability for environments.
• Mentor the SRE team on database knowledge and contribute to the career growth of team members.

Requirements

• Must be based in Canada.
• Deep expertise in MySQL and/or PostgreSQL.
• Proven experience in backend development and database performance tuning.
• Ability to scope and implement automation for database reliability.
• Strong communication skills for providing actionable feedback and collaborating with cross-functional teams.
• Keen interest in leveraging AI to improve engineering craft and operational efficiency.

Nice to have

• Experience with migration tools like pt-online-schema-change or gh-ost.
• Proficiency with Docker, Kubernetes, and infrastructure management via Terraform or Ansible.
• Development experience with Ruby or GoLang.
• Experience managing AWS resources and scripting with BASH.
• Familiarity with ProxySQL and the Percona toolkit.
