What you will do

• Analyze the Waymo Driver’s perception stack to understand capabilities across diverse driving conditions.
• Help define the development direction to scale the perception stack to new environments, platforms, and sensors.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to influence the roadmap for next-generation perception technology.
• Architect high-scale, mission-critical automation and evaluation frameworks to establish safety and reliability.
• Innovate simulation tools for advanced sensor emulation to test vehicle performance against edge-case faults.
• Support the sign-off process for sensing system development and software releases.

Requirements

• BS in Computer Science, Robotics, or a similar technical field.
• 2+ years of experience in industrial AI applications involving the creation and evaluation of ML products.
• Experience developing and conducting evaluations for large ML software systems.
• Strong programming proficiency in C++ with a focus on robust and efficient code.
• Must be located in or able to work from Mountain View or San Francisco, California.

Nice to have

• MS or PhD in Computer Science, Robotics, or equivalent practical experience.
• Experience with L4 autonomous vehicles or L2/L3 ADAS systems.
• Strong software architecture skills.
