Software Project Lead (Automotive Telematic Projects)

Location: Tokyo or Nagoya, Japan; hybrid work. Domestic and international travel of up to 30% is required.

What you will do

• Lead the software delivery of next-generation telematic units to automotive customers.
• Serve as the customer-facing contact for all software topics.
• Orchestrate virtual, cross-functional, globally distributed software project teams.
• Plan, monitor, control, and track schedules, effort, product quality, and process quality.
• Define software project management processes and development lifecycle activities based on hirify.global standards and project constraints.
• Create milestone schedules, coordinate software work products, and manage releases through software maturity gates.

Requirements

• University degree in engineering, information technology, computer science, business administration, or equivalent education.
• Fluent Japanese and business English required.
• Expertise in project management and coordination in globally distributed development environments using Waterfall and Agile methods.
• Knowledge of process models such as Automotive SPICE and CMMI.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, judgment, initiative, and execution skills.
• Experience managing teams of 10 or more people directly or indirectly, with the ability to understand and structure complex systems.

Nice to have

• Project Management Professional certification, such as PMP.
• Automotive experience and projects implemented with Automotive SPICE Level 3.
• Experience in real-time embedded software and system development.
• Experience managing teams of 25 or more people.
• Fluent Japanese at N1 level.
