Head of Compliance (LATAM): Own regional compliance for LATAM crypto markets, including regulatory relationships, compliance policy/control frameworks, and oversight of investigations and suspicious activity with an accent on AML/FT, sanctions, and KYC/KYB (CDD/EDD) across multiple jurisdictions. Focus on leading MLROs and compliance professionals, embedding compliance into product and market expansion decisions, and adapting controls to local regulatory requirements.

What you will do
- Act as the senior compliance authority for LATAM with direct accountability for regulatory relationships across LatAm jurisdictions.
- Lead regulator engagement (inspections, inquiries) and set strategic regulatory positioning for the region.
- Lead, develop, and coordinate a team of MLROs and compliance professionals across multiple markets.
- Implement and maintain compliance policies, procedures, controls, and frameworks aligned with the Global Compliance Standard, adapting them for local markets.
- Supervise compliance reviews, investigations, and suspicious activity; identify compliance gaps and drive remediation.
- Prepare and submit periodic compliance reports to local authorities and coordinate responses with regulators and auditors.
Requirements
- Location: Must be based in Mexico
- 10+ years of compliance experience in financial services, fintech, or cryptocurrency, including regulatory/licensing advisory and/or financial crime.
- Proven AML/FT and sanctions compliance experience in traditional financial services, fintech, or crypto exchanges.
- In-depth knowledge of the LATAM regulatory landscape, with a strong focus on Argentina and El Salvador (AML laws, data privacy, consumer protection, and crypto-related regulations).
- Strong experience with KYC/KYB and CDD/EDD processes, including ongoing monitoring and risk assessments.
- Strong communication and presentation skills in Spanish and English (oral and written).
