What you will do
- Lead the Europe compliance team, providing strategic direction and advisory support to business stakeholders.
- Develop and maintain robust compliance policies, procedures, controls, and frameworks in line with global standards.
- Engage cross-functionally with Data, Engineering, Finance, and Product teams to implement effective compliance management programs.
- Monitor and assess compliance with Maltese and EU laws, including MiFID, MiCA, and GDPR.
- Oversee annual compliance reviews, investigations, and risk assessments.
- Prepare and present compliance reports to management and the Board.
Requirements
- 10+ years of experience in regulatory compliance within financial services, payments, fintech, or crypto.
- Proven experience leading compliance programs in line with Malta/EU standards.
- Previously held a regulated compliance approved person status (e.g., SMF16 or equivalent).
- Strong leadership and stakeholder management skills.
- Working knowledge of EU financial regulations including MiFID, MiCA, and GDPR.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
Nice to have
- Prior experience working in the crypto industry.
- International Compliance Association, ACAMS, or equivalent certification.
