What you will do
- Lead the overall HR function in Japan and report functionally to the Regional Head of HR and hierarchically to the Country Head of Japan.
- Deliver cyclical HR activities, including performance evaluations, talent reviews, promotion nominations, and pay reviews.
- Manage staff transfers, onboarding coordination, employee issues, grievance handling, and local HR services.
- Oversee payroll, benefits administration, HR systems, regulatory reporting, HR data quality, budget, and business continuity planning.
- Maintain HR policies, procedures, vendor and intragroup service contracts, and compliance with local regulations and ING Group standards.
- Support regional change projects, people solutions, process improvements, and non-financial risk activities.
Requirements
- At least 10 years of experience in senior HR roles within similar international financial services organizations.
- Knowledge of HR functions, organization and management principles, industrial relations, and Japanese labor laws and market practices.
- Experience in operational excellence, data interpretation, and working in an international matrix organization.
- Ability to execute HR strategy, operate independently as a control function, and drive changes in deliverables and culture.
- Strong people-development, communication, and stakeholder-management skills.
