TL;DR
Level Designer (Senior+): Own 3D level layout, grey-boxing, and gameplay pacing from early concept planning through shippable quality with an accent on prototyping gameplay sequences, encounter design, and collaborating across environment art and gameplay engineering. Focus on building compelling level and quest content by iterating on moment-to-moment gameplay and key moments.
Location: Toronto, Ontario, Canada (Hybrid: 3 days/week in studio)
Salary: CAD 75,000–115,000 (Senior) or CAD 95,000–145,000 (Specialist)

What you will do
- Brainstorm, innovate, create, refine, and finalize 3D level layouts.
- Greybox and block out gameplay spaces to define pacing and key moments.
- Prototype and script gameplay sequences early to gather meaningful feedback.
- Own moment-to-moment and overall pacing across multiple levels in collaboration with environment artists and gameplay engineers.
- Partner with the Game Director, Designers, and Artists on level layout, construction, and scripted mechanics/events.
- Define and implement gameplay mechanics that fit your levels, including level and quest content with Lead Designers.
Requirements
- 5+ years of level design experience.
- At least one shipped title as a level designer.
- Experience with grey-boxing/blockout of gameplay spaces and establishing landmarks.
- Understanding of level pacing and encounter design.
- Ability to create quick prototypes to validate gameplay ideas.
- Familiarity with tool use and basic scripting in a major game engine such as Unity, Unreal, or equivalent.
Nice to have
- Experience creating co-op gameplay.
- Experience crafting cinematic gameplay moments and an eye for camera.
- Familiarity with 3D art tools such as 3ds Max, Maya, or Blender.
- Additional design expertise (systems, combat, etc.) to contribute across teams.
