Security Manager - SOC

Location: Welwyn Garden City, United Kingdom; hybrid, with 60% of the week spent collaborating at office locations or local sites and the remainder remotely.

What you will do

• Define and deliver the SOC transformation and change roadmap across processes, tooling, AI, and operating models.
• Maintain strong threat detection, incident response, service reliability, and measurable operational outcomes.
• Champion applied AI and automation to improve investigation and response quality, speed, and efficiency.
• Lead, mentor, and grow an inclusive, high-performing team of security professionals.
• Communicate cyber risk to technical and non-technical stakeholders and align priorities across Cyber Defence, Technology, and business functions.
• Embed a product- and service-oriented approach to SOC delivery.

Requirements

• Experience leading technical teams, including coaching, performance development, and technical hiring.
• Ability to define strategic roadmaps, solve complex problems, and align execution with business objectives.
• Strong communication and influencing skills across senior technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Practical understanding of threat detection, incident response, change leadership, and service continuity.
• Awareness of SOC workflow and incident-management tooling such as Zendesk and xMatters.
• Foundational understanding of applying AI and automation to cyber defence operations.

Nice to have

• Experience with SIEM, EDR, SOAR, cloud and container security, or modern technology architectures.
• Knowledge of retail systems, cyber incident management, product methodologies, service delivery, or operational analytics.
• Experience managing technical budgets, vendors, procurement, or engineering delivery processes.
• GIAC, CISSP, CISM, or another relevant certification, plus a relevant degree.
