Child Protection Consultant (Child Rights): Supporting the development and implementation of strategic partnerships and coordination of child protection programs with an accent on the Spotlight Initiative Africa Regional Program 2.0. Focus on program planning, monitoring, and advocacy to ensure the realization of children's rights through continental and international frameworks.

Location: Office based in Addis Ababa; Open for Ethiopian nationals

What you will do

• Support programme development, planning, and monitoring for child protection initiatives.
• Coordinate the Spotlight Initiative Africa Regional Program 2.0 (SIARP 2.0) activities.
• Facilitate concrete solutions for continental and international efforts to protect children's rights and wellbeing.
• Build strategic networks and partnerships, specifically with the African Union (AU) organs and entities.
• Provide technical and operational support for the delivery of program results.
• Lead innovation, knowledge management, and capacity building in the field of child protection.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in development, peace and conflict, economics, psychology, sociology, or a relevant technical field.
• Minimum 8 years of professional experience in child protection, human rights, or related social sciences.
• Deep understanding of children’s rights, violence against children (VAC), and gender-based violence (VAWG).
• Proven experience working with African Union mechanisms and organs.
• Fluency in English is required.
• Ability to handle sensitive data ethically and work effectively in multi-cultural environments.

Nice to have

• Experience working within a UN system agency or organization.
• Familiarity with continental organizations.
• Knowledge of another official UN language or a local language of the duty station.
