Software Test Engineer

TL;DR

Software Test Engineer (Networking): Build and validate the highest-quality networking products by finding hard-to-reproduce bugs and designing test plans and test network topologies with an accent on Ethernet/IP routing protocols and performance/stability/scalability validation. Focus on exploratory testing, defect identification, and partnering with developers to complement automated unit and integration tests.

Salary: $110,000–$185,000 base pay

What you will do

• Find bugs in the software and/or hardware developed by the team using multiple testing approaches.
• Write test plans to validate Arista features and products.
• Design test network topologies to validate functionality, performance, stability, and scalability.
• Execute test plans, identify defects, and validate defect resolution.
• Work in agile short cycles as part of a combined development and test team.
• Partner with developers to plan automated tests and act as the testing expert for the team.

Requirements

• Proven expertise in creating test methodologies and writing test plans.
• Strong knowledge of one or more networking areas such as Ethernet, VLANs, IP routing, TCP/IP, OSPF/IS-IS/BGP, IGMP/PIM, QoS, L2-L3 protocols, HA, and network management.
• BS in CS/CE/EE plus 1+ years of experience (MS preferred).
• Strong communication skills.
• Ability to work in Santa Clara, CA, USA.

Nice to have

• Experience with IXIA and/or Spirent test tools.
• Familiarity with test automation tools and scripting languages.
• CCIE certification.
