Previs/Layout Artist (Junior, Mid, Senior) (Animation/Maya): Bringing storyboards to life in 3D through cinematography, camera animation, character blocking, and final camera work with an accent on framing, lensing, staging, and sequence timing. Focus on solving complex blocking challenges, adapting shots to editorial changes, and collaborating with animation and editorial teams on a premium streaming series.
Location: Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. Flexible hybrid schedule; legally eligible to work in British Columbia, Canada.
Salary: CAD 62,000–95,000 annually, based on experience and skills.

What you will do
- Translate scripts and storyboards into 3D sequences that support the director’s vision.
- Compose and lens shots, block character animation, establish timing and staging, and animate camera movements.
- Complete and polish camera work after animation, including managing revisions.
- Collaborate with editorial to maintain sequence flow and adapt to pacing or structural changes.
- Work with animation teams to resolve blocking and staging challenges in the production pipeline.
- Develop creative cinematography solutions for complex shots and ensure accurate sequence timing.
Requirements
- Junior: 1–2+ years of production experience in previs, layout, or camera; Mid-level: 3–5+ years; Senior: 5+ years.
- Strong understanding of cinematography, including framing, lenses, depth of field, and camera movement.
- Experience with character animation, posing, staging, and cinematic timing.
- Working experience within a Maya pipeline.
- Legal eligibility to work in British Columbia, Canada.
Nice to have
- Experience with Premiere, DaVinci Resolve, and/or Photoshop.
