TL;DR

UX Researcher (Ecommerce): Conducting tactical research and usability testing to improve the global marketplace experience with an accent on cross-border user insights and cultural nuance. Focus on integrating AI tools into the research workflow to accelerate decision-making and streamline research operations across international markets.

Location: Must be based in or able to work from the office in Roppongi, Tokyo, Japan (Hybrid)

What you will do

  • Plan and execute usability tests, user interviews, and concept evaluations for the global app.
  • Leverage research platforms to run un-moderated studies and collect feedback at scale.
  • Manage participant recruitment, research repositories, and feedback trackers.
  • Apply AI tools across the research workflow to improve speed, synthesis, and reporting.
  • Collaborate with designers, PMs, and engineers to iterate on product features based on actionable insights.
  • Support strategic research initiatives and contribute to the development of global research playbooks.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of UX research experience in-house, agency, or freelance.
  • English proficiency: C1 required (verbal and written).
  • Experience conducting usability tests, user interviews, and concept evaluations.
  • Familiarity with remote testing tools like UserTesting, Maze, or UserZoom.
  • Experience with participant recruitment and coordination.
  • Experience with AI tools and applying them in a research workstream.

Nice to have

  • Experience working on global or cross-cultural products.
  • Familiarity with Research Ops or Voice of the Customer (VoC) management.
  • Japanese, Mandarin, or Cantonese language skills.
  • Understanding of the ecommerce industry or ACGE product space.
