TL;DR

Tokyo Producer (News): Producing specialist coverage and analysis of news topics and events by gathering and producing news accurately and impartially across a range of hirify.global output with an accent on Japanese social, policy, and geopolitical issues. Focus on delivering compelling stories across text, digital platforms, radio, and television while influencing the hirify.global’s global news agenda.

Location: Must be based in Tokyo, Japan. Any offer is conditional upon having the right to live and work in Japan.

What you will do

  • Produce specialist news coverage and analysis on Japanese social, cultural, and geopolitical topics.
  • Collaborate with the Tokyo Correspondent to create engaging content for digital, radio, and television platforms.
  • Verify and manage user-generated content (UGC) for breaking news and emerging trends.
  • Use data analytics to shape content strategies and meet target audience needs.
  • Influence the hirify.global’s UK and Global News agenda through specialist editorial leadership.
  • Translate complex geopolitical events into compelling stories across multiple media formats.

Requirements

  • Full command of written and spoken Japanese (native or equivalent) is essential.
  • Complete comprehension of written and spoken English.
  • Must have the legal right to live and work in Japan.
  • Demonstrable experience in digital production, social media, and audience interactivity.
  • Proven ability to produce and mix engaging radio packages and illustrated despatches.
  • In-depth knowledge of Japanese social customs, policy issues, and geopolitics.
