What you will do

• Develop control plane and lifecycle automation for Managed PostgreSQL, including HA, backups, and zero-downtime maintenance.
• Tune and harden PostgreSQL internals such as replication, WAL, vacuum, and query planning.
• Build migration tooling to facilitate seamless transitions from AWS RDS, Google Cloud SQL, and other providers.
• Drive the AI-Postgres integration, focusing on vector search and hybrid retrieval.
• Operate the service with an SRE mindset, defining SLOs and leading incident response.
• Collaborate directly with customers on architecture reviews and performance escalations.

Requirements

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience with production PostgreSQL at scale.
• Strong proficiency in Go or another backend/systems language.
• Deep knowledge of PostgreSQL internals (MVCC, WAL, replication, partitioning).
• Hands-on experience with the PostgreSQL ecosystem (Patroni, pgBackRest, pgBouncer).
• Ability to read EXPLAIN ANALYZE and reason about complex database lock behaviors.
• Must be authorized to work in the country of application.

Nice to have

• Experience with pgvector and pgvectorscale for vector search at scale.
• Background building managed-database control planes at a cloud provider.
• Experience writing Kubernetes operators.
• Contributions to PostgreSQL or the surrounding OSS ecosystem.
• Experience with AI/ML workloads like RAG pipelines.
