What you will do

• Own the engineering roadmap, deciding what to build, defer, or remove to maintain momentum.
• Set technical direction and architecture across frontend, backend, data pipelines, and lab-hardware integration.
• Stay hands-on by shipping code for the highest-leverage problems.
• Hire, grow, and set high quality standards for a small, technical engineering team.
• Build and integrate AI-assisted development practices to create a genuine speed advantage.

Requirements

• Extensive experience shipping production software and a desire to remain hands-on.
• Proven track record of hiring and managing engineers in a startup or high-growth environment.
• Experience owning or significantly shaping an engineering roadmap.
• Strong architectural decision-making skills across frontend, backend, data, and infrastructure.
• AI-native workflow, utilizing AI agents and coding tools as a force multiplier.
• High autonomy and a founder mindset.
• A genuine interest in biology (no professional background required).
