TL;DR

National AMR Technical Coordinator (Public Health): Coordinating in-country work on Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) to strengthen governance, surveillance, and laboratory systems with an accent on a One Health approach and national capacity building. Focus on managing technical assistance, overseeing partner deliverables, and maintaining strategic relationships with government stakeholders.

Location: Lusaka, Zambia. Candidates must have the right to live and work in Zambia; visa sponsorship will not be considered.

What you will do

  • Coordinate all in-country AMR activities, ensuring timelines are met and technical standards are upheld.
  • Provide technical oversight and mentoring to partners and consultants, reviewing all technical deliverables.
  • Develop clear Terms of Reference for Technical Assistance providers.
  • Maintain strong and positive relationships with national stakeholders and AMR governance bodies.
  • Provide line management for the Zambia Finance and Operations Manager.
  • Support the development of workplans and coordinate reporting for the FCDO.

Requirements

  • Degree in Medicine, Veterinary Medicine, Public Health, Biological Sciences, Microbiology, or Pharmacy.
  • Master's degree or postgraduate experience in public health, epidemiology, or biosciences.
  • At least 10 years of experience in Public Health, ideally with government or statutory bodies.
  • At least 5 years of experience working in Global Health Security and AMR.
  • Proven experience in project management and delivering high-quality technical assistance programming.
  • Fluency in English required alongside proficiency in one or more local languages.
