System Engineer (DNS/Observability)

System Engineer (DNS/Observability): Designing, developing, and operating highly-available Linux-based infrastructure services with an accent on DNS, observability stacks, and configuration management. What you will do

• Design, develop, and operate highly-available services on Linux infrastructure.
• Take ownership of the full stack, including configuration management, monitoring, and hardware-to-application integration.
• Contribute to open-source projects like DIM and monzero.
• Apply rigorous blast-radius and risk assessment to all infrastructure changes, especially when using AI tooling.
• Participate in an on-call service rotation to ensure infrastructure stability.

Requirements

• Completed computer science degree or equivalent qualification.
• 3+ years of practical experience administering 100+ Linux systems across multiple data centers.
• Excellent communication skills in English.
• Experience with monitoring, configuration management (Puppet/Ansible), and visualization tools.
• Knowledge of network services including DNS, BGP, and firewalling.
• Experience with AI-assisted infrastructure development and a pragmatic approach to AI tooling.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of German.
• Experience with databases and messaging systems like Kafka, ClickHouse, or Cassandra.
