What you will do
- Investigate atomic assemblies where valence electrons form molecular orbitals to study delocalized s-shell magnetism.
- Use scanning tunneling microscopy (STM) to position individual magnetic atoms into custom-engineered spin structures.
- Apply inelastic electron tunneling spectroscopy (IETS) and electron spin resonance (ESR) to address atomic spin states.
- Study coherent quantum dynamics of electron, orbital, and nuclear magnetic moments using nanosecond pulsed measurement techniques.
- Build upon group achievements in single-shot nuclear readout and electron-nuclear double resonance (ENDOR).
Requirements
- MSc degree in Physics or a closely related discipline.
- Solid understanding of quantum mechanics, specifically spin physics.
- Experience with experimental research, including vacuum and cryogenic techniques.
- Proficiency in coding, preferably in Python.
- Excellent control of the English language (spoken and written).
- Ability to work onsite in Delft, Netherlands.
