TL;DR

Senior/Staff Android Engineer (AI): Building a real-time AI music creation studio and social platform with an accent on performant media experiences and fluid animations. Focus on designing foundational abstractions for generative audio technology and scaling the Android platform to millions of users.

Location: On-site in New York City (Chelsea), 5 days a week. Must be eligible to work in the US.

Salary: $200K – $300K + Equity

What you will do

  • Design and build the Android app focusing on music creation, discovery, playback, and social features.
  • Create foundational abstractions and libraries for high-performance interactive media experiences.
  • Own feature development from inception (0 to 1) through shipping and iteration.
  • Collaborate with product and design teams to define the app's flow and user experience.
  • Optimize UI rendering, memory, and network efficiency to reduce audio latency.
  • Set the technical direction for the Android platform and mentor other engineers.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience shipping production Android apps.
  • Advanced expertise in Kotlin and modern Android frameworks.
  • Experience building polished animations and translating prototypes into production code.
  • Strong performance profiling skills (UI rendering, memory, and network).
  • Must be based in or able to work on-site in New York City.
  • Eligibility to work in the US is required.

Nice to have

  • Experience with ExoPlayer and Media3 for audio/video playback.
  • Knowledge of audio streaming pipelines or real-time audio on Android.
  • Experience building social features such as feeds, follow graphs, and notifications.
  • History of building 0→1 consumer products at fast-paced startups.
  • Technical leadership or mentorship experience.
  • A genuine love of music.
