TL;DR

What you will do

  • Drive the creation and optimization of complex real-time VFX and shader networks to achieve visual goals.
  • Research and integrate innovative rendering techniques, procedural methods, and specialized VFX tools.
  • Develop and maintain tools and scripts to automate content creation and improve team productivity.
  • Establish and govern technical specifications and standards for all art assets.
  • Act as the primary technical liaison between Art, Design, and Engineering teams.
  • Mentor mid-level and junior artists on best practices in real-time VFX and optimization.

Requirements

  • Approximately 5+ years of professional experience in the games industry.
  • Strong knowledge of shader development, VFX/Particles, and real-time physics simulations.
  • Proficiency in scripting and coding in one or more core languages.
  • Hands-on development experience with modern commercial game engines.
  • Advanced skills in at least one DCC package (Maya, 3ds Max, Blender) and development tools (Houdini, EmberGen, After Effects, or Substance).
  • Must be based in or able to work from Box Hill, VIC, Australia (Hybrid)

Nice to have

  • Previous production experience with AAA game development.
  • Familiarity with console development for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation, and Xbox.
  • Experience creating motion graphics and in-engine VFX for user interface elements.
  • Foundational skills in traditional art, drawing, or painting.
