CMF Designer - Color, Material, and Finish (Starlink)

Location: Bastrop, TX; onsite in the Austin, TX area. This is not a remote or hybrid position and requires relocation if not already local.

What you will do

• Analyze, refine, and approve colors, materials, and finishes across active Starlink projects.
• Develop CMF concepts, visualizations, and digital and physical presentations for the product ecosystem.
• Partner with design, engineering, manufacturing, and operations teams to implement production-ready solutions.
• Protect design intent through color tuning, material mastering, and execution oversight from prototypes through full-scale production.
• Curate the internal materials and finishes library and source innovative options from suppliers and vendors.
• Build supplier relationships and identify resources that support material innovation.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in industrial, transportation, product, architecture, or another design discipline.
• At least 1 year of professional CMF experience.
• Technical expertise in mass production, manufacturing processes, and a broad range of materials.
• Strong proficiency with 2D and 3D visualization tools such as Photoshop, Illustrator, Blender, and KeyShot.
• Strong visual portfolio is mandatory for consideration.
• Must satisfy U.S. ITAR eligibility requirements, including U.S. citizenship or nationality, lawful permanent residence, refugee or asylee status, or eligibility to obtain the required authorizations.

Nice to have

• Exceptional color acuity, including the ability to pass the Munsell Hue Color Test with a perfect score.
• Experience communicating complex CMF concepts and influencing cross-functional stakeholders.
• Experience managing multiple parallel projects under tight deadlines.
