Salary: $108,500 – $201,500 per year

What you will do

• Lead the design and implementation of complex backend services in a cloud-native, microservices-based environment.
• Make architectural and technical decisions that balance reliability, scalability, and performance.
• Drive projects end-to-end, from requirements and design through implementation and production rollout.
• Improve service reliability by defining SLOs/SLAs and strengthening observability.
• Collaborate across teams to define APIs, integration points, and data models.
• Mentor and support other engineers through code reviews, design reviews, and technical guidance.

Requirements

• 7+ years of experience building and operating production backend systems.
• Strong programming expertise in Java, Go, C/C++, or Python.
• Experience with distributed systems, event-driven architectures, or large-scale data pipelines.
• Proficiency with AWS, GCP, or Azure, Docker, and Kubernetes.
• Must have the ability to work in Canada without sponsorship.
• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.

Nice to have

• Experience with data streaming technologies such as Apache Kafka or Flink.
• Experience building mission-critical, multi-tenant, or multi-region services.
• Previous work in security, governance, or compliance-sensitive backend domains.
• Master's degree.
