TL;DR

Asset Supervisor (VFX): Leading the asset team with a primary focus on texturing and LookDev for high-end visual effects in feature films and television with an accent on technical accuracy and pipeline efficiency. Focus on managing the asset lifecycle, mentoring artists, and collaborating with CG Supervisors to realize the aesthetic vision.

Location: 100% remote within Australia. Global applicants are welcome, but must be in a position to relocate to Australia if successful.

What you will do

  • Manage, mentor, and motivate the Asset team, focusing on Texture and LookDev.
  • Conduct daily reviews (dailies) and provide constructive feedback and direction to artists.
  • Oversee the entire asset lifecycle from initial concept handover to final publication.
  • Develop and implement efficient workflows and tools to optimize asset creation and iteration.
  • Collaborate with CG Supervisors and other departments including Layout, Animation, Lighting, and FX.
  • Perform technical and aesthetic quality assurance (QA) checks before final asset approval.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of professional experience in feature film, broadcast animation, or high-end VFX production.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a leadership role (e.g., Lead Artist or Sequence Lead).
  • Proven expertise in Modeling, Texturing, and Look Dev.
  • Expert proficiency with Maya, ZBrush, Substance Painter/Designer, and Mari.
  • Strong understanding of modern rendering principles (Arnold, V-Ray, RenderMan).
  • Must have valid working rights for Australia or be able to relocate.

Nice to have

  • Basic scripting/programming knowledge in Python.
  • Knowledge of scattering tools, Speedtree, Terragen, or other world-building software.
  • Familiarity with production tracking software like ShotGrid.
