TL;DR
Senior Design Engineer (Mining): Developing and improving high-wear mining products with an accent on 3D modeling, DEM simulations, reverse engineering, and detailed technical drawings. Focus on predicting wear patterns, optimizing liner profiles, supporting mining operations through site visits, and identifying cost-saving performance improvements.

Location: Panama, remote, with regular technical site visits to mining operations

What you will do

  • Develop advanced 3D models for high-wear applications and optimize material flow.
  • Execute 3D DEM simulations to predict wear patterns, optimize liner profiles, and validate performance.
  • Reverse-engineer components and identify product improvement opportunities.
  • Produce detailed 2D technical drawings for manufacturing and installation.
  • Translate customer needs into engineering solutions with the Regional Sales Manager in Panama.
  • Provide on-site technical support, conduct inspections, monitor performance, and identify cost-saving opportunities.

Requirements

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.
  • Strong expertise in Ansys FEA and DEM software.
  • Advanced CAD experience with Unigraphics NX, including 3D modeling and 2D drafting.
  • Experience developing products aligned with customer operational needs.
  • Fluent spoken and written English and Spanish required.
  • Understanding of project management or related tools and strong communication skills.

Nice to have

  • Knowledge of mineral processing circuits and material handling equipment such as conveyors and chutes.
  • Familiarity with Teamcenter PLM.
  • Experience supporting mining operations in Latin America or other markets.
