Focus on drafting from survey data, participating in boundary and legal description work, developing survey standards, and carrying equipment across rough terrain.
Location: San Luis Obispo, California, United States. This is a permanent, full-time role combining office work, field surveys, construction-site duties, overnight travel, and overtime based on project needs.
Salary: $80,000–$110,000 per year.

What you will do
- Draft survey maps from field data using AutoCAD and Civil 3D.
- Perform office and field surveying as part of a survey crew.
- Work with UAV, terrestrial, close-range photogrammetry, remote sensing, and 3D-scanning technologies.
- Support Records of Survey, legal descriptions, and boundary re-establishments.
- Develop and document surveying standards and workflows.
- Follow quality-control procedures and communicate with colleagues, clients, and field teams.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Land Surveying or a related field; approximately five years of progressive experience is preferred.
- Professional proficiency in AutoCAD and Civil 3D.
- Experience with surveying techniques and related hardware or software.
- Valid California driver’s license required.
- Ability to work outdoors at construction sites and in traffic, including overnight travel and overtime when required.
- Ability to communicate in English in person, by telephone, and over two-way radio.
Nice to have
- Land Surveyor-in-Training or Engineer-in-Training certification, or motivation to obtain one.
- Experience with Trimble Business Center, Trimble Access, and emerging surveying technologies.
- FAA remote pilot license for small unmanned aircraft.
