Regional Policy and Advocacy Advisor (Education): Designing and implementing a policy and advocacy strategy to improve the well-being and holistic learning outcomes of children aged 3-12 in Ethiopia, South Sudan, and Uganda with an accent on Learning through Play (LtP). Focus on influencing donor and ministry prioritization, conducting stakeholder power mapping, and scaling resilient education systems.

What you will do

  • Design and implement a comprehensive policy and advocacy strategy across country programs to promote Learning through Play.
  • Conduct stakeholder analysis and power mapping to identify and target strategic decision-makers.
  • Collaborate with communication teams to produce print and digital products and multi-media solutions for mass dissemination.
  • Develop and lead advocacy capacity building workshops for IRC and partner staff at global, regional, and country levels.
  • Represent the PlayMatters project in interagency groups and maintain strategic relationships with UN agencies and ministries.
  • Develop and track a Learning through Play Advocacy workplan aligned with overall project goals.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Global Education, psychology, or a relevant discipline.
  • 5+ years of experience in policy or advocacy related to children, education, or health.
  • Strong facilitation and interpersonal skills for leading workshops with diverse stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of early childhood development, humanitarian programming, and international policies.
  • Excellent writing and editing skills for drafting reports, memos, and proposals.
  • Ability to work from the Kampala office with approximately 30% travel.
