What you will do

• Review and refine automatically generated speech boundaries using Praat to reflect coherent intonational phrases.
• Produce verbatim, time-aligned orthographic transcriptions capturing spontaneous speech including disfluencies, overlaps, and reduced forms.
• Identify prosodic cues such as pauses, pitch resets, final syllable lengthening, and non-linguistic sounds.
• Review waveform and spectrogram views to confirm segmentation by ear.
• Preserve natural speech characteristics like false starts, mimicry, and morphosyntactic variants.

Requirements

• Native or near-native proficiency in US English
• Must be residing in United States
• Prior experience with transcription and familiarity with Praat, ADAP, or similar speech annotation tools
• Strong understanding of phonetics, phonology, and prosodic annotation
• Ability to recognize intonational phrases, pitch accents, prosodic boundaries, disfluencies, and overlaps
• Background in linguistics, phonetics, speech science, or related fields preferred
• Strong attention to detail and consistency in transcription conventions
