Data Engineer

TL;DR

Data Engineer: Create and maintain batch (ELT) and real-time data pipelines processing terabytes of sports betting data with an accent on low-latency processing, scalable infrastructure, and data warehousing. Focus on designing optimal extraction, transformation, and loading from diverse sources using AWS big data technologies, optimizing delivery, and providing actionable insights into customer acquisition and operational efficiency.

Location: Onsite in Malta (St. Julian’s) with relocation support

What you will do

• Create and maintain batch (ELT) and real-time data pipelines and architecture.
• Assemble large and complex data sets meeting business requirements.
• Identify, design, and implement process improvements: automate manual processes, optimize data delivery, redesign infrastructure for scalability.
• Build infrastructure for extraction, loading, and transformation using SQL and AWS big data technologies.
• Develop tools providing actionable insights into customer acquisition, operational efficiency, and key metrics.
• Collaborate with data architects, executives, product, data, and IT teams from project start to delivery.

Requirements

• 3+ years of relevant work experience
• Cloud data services: AWS (S3, Athena, EC2, EMR, AWS Batch, Lambda)
• Large-scale production databases and SQL; cloud DWH (Redshift/Snowflake), data modeling, large datasets
• ELT development (DBT, Airflow)
• Data governance, quality concepts, data catalogue tools
• Big data technologies (NIFI, Kafka, Python, Spark, Hudi)
• Docker/Kubernetes
• Strong analytics skills, innovation, fast learner, collaborative
