Location: On-site in Kitchener, Canada (151 Charles Street West, inside the Communitech Innovation Center)

Salary: $20 - $30 an hour

What you will do

• Develop, test, and deploy software solutions using advanced Java or Scala programming.
• Design and build components of the hirify.global Open Data Platform (ODP).
• Contribute to open-source technologies and solve real-world challenges in large-scale data infrastructure.
• Participate in the full software development lifecycle, including requirement analysis, design, and maintenance.
• Perform code reviews to maintain high code quality and collaborate with seasoned engineers.

Requirements

• Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field at the University of Waterloo.
• Strong programming skills in Java or Scala, and Python.
• Experience with project build models such as Maven, Gradle, or SBT.
• Hands-on experience with Kubernetes, including deploying and scaling applications.
• Knowledge of the big data ecosystem, including Apache Hadoop, Spark, or Kafka.
• Solid understanding of data structures, algorithms, and software development principles.
