EKS Kubernetes Platform Engineer (Freelance) (AWS): Design, build and improve large-scale Kubernetes infrastructure on AWS EKS that supports 50+ clusters and mission-critical workloads with an accent on reliability, scalability, observability and security. Focus on developing platform components using GitOps and AWS CDK, integrating AI platforms and data-intensive services.

Location: Hybrid in The Hague, Netherlands (office every Tuesday)

What you will do

• Design, provision and maintain large-scale Kubernetes platform on AWS EKS for production workloads
• Enhance platform reliability, observability and scalability to prevent incidents
• Develop platform components and add-ons using GitOps and AWS CDK for faster deployments
• Integrate shared infrastructure services including AI platforms and data workloads
• Collaborate with platform teams to improve core IT stack and standards

Requirements

• Around four years of experience with Kubernetes in production, preferably AWS EKS
• Solid AWS experience (networking, IAM, PaaS, IaaS) in platform setups
• Experience with infrastructure automation (GitOps, AWS CDK)
• Programming in TypeScript and/or Go
• System and platform design skills focusing on reliability, observability and security
