TL;DR

Senior Project Manager (Peace and Security): Providing strategic and operational leadership to translate Women, Peace and Security priorities into coherent programmes and measurable results with an accent on portfolio planning and results-based management. Focus on coordinating multi-stakeholder initiatives, overseeing budgeting and delivery, and ensuring policy coherence across the African Union.

Location: Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Restricted to valid passport-holding nationals of African Union member states.

What you will do

  • Lead programme portfolio planning and integration aligned with African Union priorities.
  • Oversee results-based planning, budgeting, delivery management, and performance oversight.
  • Coordinate technically with AU departments, organs, and Regional Economic Communities.
  • Supervise and support programme staff, fostering an inclusive and accountable team culture.
  • Ensure quality assurance of workplans, reports, and knowledge products.
  • Guide monitoring, evaluation, learning, and accountability (MEAL) processes.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in international relations, peace and security, gender studies, public policy, or related field.
  • Minimum 7 years of experience in programme management and strategic planning, preferably within international organisations in Africa.
  • Experience coordinating multi-stakeholder initiatives in multicultural and politically sensitive environments.
  • Strong expertise in results-based management and data-informed decision-making.
  • Proficiency in at least one AU working language; fluency in English or French is highly desirable.
  • Must be a valid passport-holding national of an African Union member state.
