Hardware Design Engineer (VHDL)

What you will do

• Develop common and reusable HDL library building blocks based on VHDL industry standards.
• Design high-speed digital hardware utilizing FPGA SOCs (Xilinx, Microsemi, Intel/Altera).
• Develop Mil Spec power supply, low signal amplification, and diode detector circuits.
• Perform hardware bring-up, testing, and debugging.
• Create and maintain detailed development documentation, including requirements and design descriptions.
• Interface with project management to provide feedback on progress and schedules.

Requirements

• B.Eng Degree in Electronics (Honours or Master's degree is an advantage).
• At least 5 years of practical experience in VHDL, digital, or analog hardware design.
• Proficiency in VHDL coding and FPGA-based hardware design.
• Experience with hardware bring-up, testing, and debugging.
• Ability to guide and mentor junior engineers and drive projects forward.
• Preference given to South African citizens.

Nice to have

• Experience with Xilinx RFSoC.
• Proficiency in HyperLynx for PCB analysis.
• Knowledge of fiber communication and EMI design concepts.
• Experience with High-speed A2D interfacing to FPGAs and transceivers.
