Financial Accountant (Maternity Cover)

Financial Accountant (Maternity Cover): Manage high-volume transactional processes including accounts receivable, collections, accounts payable, and general ledger activities with an accent on month-end close, financial analysis, and reconciliations. Focus on preparing journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, audit schedules, and supporting statutory financial reporting under US GAAP and IFRS.

Location: Sofia, Bulgaria (Hybrid). Must be already based in Bulgaria.

What you will do

• Prepare monthly journal entries for bank activities, prepaid expenses, fixed assets, accruals, payroll, and intercompany accounting.
• Maintain balance sheet reconciliations and address reviewer queries timely.
• Collaborate with internal teams (FP&A, Legal) and external stakeholders on flux analysis and ad-hoc support.
• Prepare audit schedules, respond to auditor queries, and resolve issues.
• Assist with footnote tie-outs for quarterly and year-end statements under US GAAP and IFRS.
• Support statutory financial reporting and audits.

Requirements

• English proficiency (primary language for communication)
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance and/or 1–3 years of relevant experience
• Knowledge of US GAAP (preferred)
• Experience in global, decentralised environment (preferred)
• Strong Microsoft Excel skills
• High attention to detail, problem-solving, multitasking, and organisational skills
