What you will do

• Assess and uplift security posture of AWS and Kubernetes environments through automation and secure-by-design principles.
• Partner with Engineering, SRE, and IT Ops to deliver practical, business-enabling security solutions.
• Analyse infrastructure and microservice architectures to highlight systemic risks and define scalable secure patterns.
• Lead security input across new projects from design to delivery, ensuring resilient architectures and guardrails.
• Develop proof-of-concepts, hardening strategies, and safe rollout plans for security improvements.
• Strengthen detection and response capabilities by improving security telemetry, triage, and anomaly detection.

Requirements

• Advanced AWS expertise, ideally with Professional or Specialty certifications.
• Strong experience in Kubernetes, cluster security, and containerised workloads.
• Background in Cloud Engineering, SRE, DevOps, or Systems with strong security instincts.
• Proficiency in automation and scripting, preferably Python.
• Hands-on experience with Terraform and secure IaC patterns.
• Solid understanding of CI/CD pipelines and the SDLC.
• Must be based in South Africa to align with the "remote but reachable" policy.
