What you will do

• Design and develop components replicating IMS TM and DB behaviors, including message handling, transaction scheduling, and hierarchical database semantics.
• Define the architectural direction for the IMS replatforming runtime to ensure parity with core IMS concepts.
• Model real-world IMS application scenarios (batch and online) within the modernization stack.
• Mentor engineers on IMS fundamentals and provide guidance on DBD/PSB design and DL/I call flows.
• Collaborate with product leadership to influence the roadmap for compatibility and modernization.

Requirements

• 10+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Direct hands-on experience developing or maintaining IMS TM and DB applications on IBM z/OS.
• Strong proficiency in C, C++, or similar systems languages.
• Deep knowledge of IMS message-driven architecture, PSBs, PCBs, and DBD structures.
• Must be based in the United States.

Nice to have

• Experience with IMS exit routines, user exits, or database utilities.
• Knowledge of COBOL or PL/I application semantics and their interactions with IMS.
• Exposure to Azure, AWS, Kubernetes, or cloud-native design.
• Experience building compilers, runtimes, or interpreters for legacy workloads.
