Senior Firmware Engineer, Vehicle (Spacecraft)

What you will do

• Create embedded software architecture for real-time, fault-tolerant control of spacecraft exceeding 20 kW.
• Develop low-level firmware for new satellite hardware and software interfaces for sensors, actuators, propulsion, attitude control, and power subsystems.
• Bring up hardware and advance systems through fully integrated, flight-ready operation.
• Build software infrastructure and development processes that scale across multiple satellite products.
• Debug hardware and firmware issues using JTAG/SWD, logic analyzers, oscilloscopes, and custom debug hooks on the ground and in orbit.
• Mentor software engineers and establish embedded software best practices.

Requirements

• 5+ years of embedded software development experience in Rust, C, or C++ targeting ARM, RISC-V, or similar microcontrollers.
• Strong understanding of microcontroller memory subsystems, instruction pipelines, interrupt controllers, and DMA controllers.
• Experience collaborating with hardware engineering teams.
• Demonstrated ability to debug complex hardware and firmware issues.
• Must be a U.S. person under ITAR or otherwise eligible for a federally issued export-control license.

Nice to have

• Rust experience in hard real-time, bare-metal, or RTOS environments.
• Experience developing peripheral drivers without vendor software and maintaining firmware across product revisions.
• Spacecraft flight software, fault-tolerant design, verification, testing, and performance-analysis experience.
• Experience creating hardware-in-the-loop and hardware-out-of-the-loop test systems.
