Application Software Engineer (Satellite Software)

Location: Los Angeles, California, United States. The role involves access to ITAR-controlled information and requires the candidate to be a U.S. person or otherwise eligible for a federally issued export control license.

Salary: $123,000–$160,000 per year plus equity.

What you will do

• Develop reliable software used across factory operations, engineering, and mission control.
• Create applications that improve spacecraft design, manufacturing, and operations.
• Partner with engineers, business stakeholders, and leaders to understand needs and design efficient solutions.
• Build prototypes, validate technical constraints, and develop concepts into working product features.
• Own feature development from inception through customer adoption, including bug fixes and usability improvements.
• Contribute to engineering decisions, mentoring, and software engineering practices.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, mathematics, or another STEM discipline, or 1–3+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• At least 1 year of experience with full-stack development, platform engineering, or API development.
• Experience with AWS, CI/CD, Git, Docker, Kubernetes, and infrastructure orchestration tools such as Terraform, Ansible, or Puppet.
• Experience with a statically typed language such as C#, Go, or Java.
• Experience with structured and unstructured databases, REST APIs or gRPC, binary management platforms, OAuth 2.0, and OIDC.
• Must be a U.S. person under ITAR or otherwise eligible for a federally issued export control license.

Nice to have

• Experience with Next.js, React, Angular, or TypeScript.
• Experience with Cucumber, Cypress, build systems, or package management tools.
• Foundational knowledge of scalable, high-performance software systems.
